Support for implementationThe Manual

This website is a guide to implementing the Web Guidelines on websites. Information is organised around two different perspectives: your role and the process. Each perspectives presents the same information, albeit in a different order.

Roles

In the process of tendering and constructing a website, roughly three roles can be distinguished. By selecting a role, you’ll get an overview of the relevant sections of the manual.

  1. Principal / Project manager
The chapters for the principal / project manager focus on the buying process of websites. You’ll find answers to questions about including the Web Guidelines in a tender and about reviewing the product at the end of the project.
  2. Developer
The developer can access the technical information about the Web Guidelines. In particular, about implementing the Web Guidelines as well as do’s and don’ts.
  3. Administrator
The role of an administrator starts at the end of the process. The administrator needs tips to make sure the content complies with the Web Guidelines.

To each role several chapters of the manual apply.

Process

  1. Selection
This chapter lists the appropriate requirements to be posed by a client when obtaining a sustainable and accessible website. The consecutive steps in the selection process are discussed here.
  2. Development
This series of chapters deals with the various aspects during the actual realisation of websites.
  3. Operation
This chapter describes the main concerns during the development of content, management by means of a CMS, as well as maintenance and expansion of sustainable accessible websites.
  4. Evaluation
This chapter deals with a number of aspects that are important in the process of testing a website for accessibility.
