Building according to web standards: ECMAScript 262

ECMA is the acronym for European Computer Manufacturers Association. This is an organisation of companies that strives to implement standards in information and communications technology, in cooperation with organisations like ISO (International Organisation for Standardization) and ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute).

What is ECMAScript?

ECMAScript is a standard for a client-side script language, combined from elements of Netscape's JavaScript and Microsoft’s Jscript. A considerable part of ECMAScript centres on manipulation of the DOM (Document Object Model). The DOM is a tree model, featuring all HTML or XML elements of a page in the browser's memory. These elements can be deleted, added or modified, resulting in applications for example forms that respond directly to interaction or drop-down menus.

If client-side script is used, use ECMAScript according to the specification.

Guideline R-pd.2.7
